-ABOUT IAS-
The Independent Art Society was founded in 1951 In Hicksville, NY by a few female artists who wanted to form an Art League and attract other artists to exchange ideas and show their work.
The Society has grown from these humble beginnings to the active, multi membered League it is today. We meet now at The Plainview Old Bethpage Library at 999 Old Country Road, Plainview, NY on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 7:00 to 9:00PM except January and February which is our winter break. The new season begins in March and ends in December. Our meetings include Demonstrations of technique, lecture or sharing sessions and free refreshments. In the summer (July and August) we meet at Eisenhower Park and enjoy Demos by our guest artist. Click here for demo info: independentartsociety.org/demos.html
The Art Society is a source of art information, an opportunity for amateur and professionals alike to exhibit their work and share with one another our common interests.
